BREAKING NEWS

September 19, 2010

3:00pm – 8:00pm (?) … Tinker’s

Back in Action

July 28, 2010

Seeing as how it’s been – yes – over a year since this baby’s gotten any milk, what better time than now to update? Lots of things happening in the frisbee-sphere. Lots.

approx. view of our jerseys

approx. view of our suite

First – a strong team of 9, consisting of both current and veteran FJesuits, dubbed “Thai Pop Spectacular,” represented the squad on the Jersey Shore. We won everything that we wanted to win AND we stayed in a penthouse suite that hadn’t been redecorated since 1973. Stocked with retro couches, peacock-carpet-adorned walls, and plenty of Gold Bond (both powder and cream), the team was ready to tackle the 180 degree sand and all those 1s on the beach. We had victories on the fields, in the beer garden, in the brocean, and atop the Brittany Motel.  Thai Pop found the funk and we ejaculated the funk all over Wildwood.

Second – big news in the Captain Department. There are two available spots. Burger and Blake are looking for their co-pilots, their wingmen.

blake & burger

Two masculine pieces of meat that will lead this team to more and more winning. There are far too many qualifications and responsibilities to list here, so we’re asking y0u to send your votes, along with a 500-word essay, to burgermeister89@gmail.com. Best of luck, nerds.

FINALLY – this is something that will make all of you tingle a little bit in your groinal areas. No words, just a picture:

Give it a couple weeks. You'll be drinking out of these sooner than you think.

Summer’s Greetings!

June 30, 2009

gurlz

Happy Summer, everybody!
I was just sittin’ here with Brandon and Tommy (one of our faces), doin’ some fun things and we got to thinkin’ about our team whom we love so much. Now we realize that many of you are stuck in your respective homes away from the bronx and miss your felllow flying jesuits dearly. Therefore, we thought we’d give you a few suggestions for some fun summer activities that will help soothe that pain. We’ve tested all of these ideas ourselves already this summer, so listen up, it’s worth it.

1. Ride a bike. Often, when you ride bikes, you have a lot of fun. Especially if you do it with a teammate. That picture up there is from a park, under the Manhattan Bridge. There’s surprises everywhere! You just have to explore and find them!

2. Drink sodas on your front stoop. This is a great way to meet neighbors, especially on a nice day. If you call over a fellow flying jesuit, it’s especially groovy! Make sure you’re careful and don’t wander away or the police might getchya!

3. Go to a park with sodas and arts and crafts. When you mix sodas with arts and crafts, it’ll turn a summer-day into a heaven-day. You could fly a kite, walk a dog, toss a disc, play with a flying jesuit, or just sit there! Sometimes a lot of people are at the park and they’re all very nice. Turtles, too.

4. Go to a beach.

5. And if you can’t reach one, make one!
We’ll tell you how:

15 Days Left

February 26, 2009

It’s true, Savannah is only 15 days away. I hope you’re as excited as I am, because we are going to be very close friends after this trip. Now, you might be thinking, “Oh, gosh, spring break is so close and there must be some things to be done!” Well, you’re right. Here’s a few things you should consider before you get in your respective vehicle to leave for the lovely beaches of Savannah:

1.) Sign up for the UPA. This is very important, because we are going to play frisbee down there too.
2.) Find out if you can help make the trip happen by donating a car (or more). We would rather not spend more money renting vans, so you should ask around. Tell Liz if you get a car.
3.) Don’t shave.
4.) Tell your friends. If you know a friend that doesn’t have spring break plans, see if they’d be willing to cough up $200 for the most fun vacation of their adolescence.
5.) Pack for frisbee. Pack for the beach. Pack for St. Patty’s day celebrations. Pack for your inevitable hangover.
6.) Sign up for the UPA.

Now if you want to see the house we are staying at, go to maps.google.com and check out the street view feature at 4 11th Street, Tybee Island, GA (it’s the house on the south of the street).

The Beaches of Savannah

February 26, 2009

Fourteen hours down 95,
Spring is here, I feel alive.
Like the swallow I travel south,
Heading for the Atlantic’s mouth.
And to think, last night, I wandered our Bronx,
Dreaming of beaches, lined with docks.

On the road and our spirits fly high,
We’ve left our school, we’ve said our byes.
Nothing ahead but the big blue sky,
Sandy beaches, and a relieving sigh.
And to think, last night, I wandered our Bronx,
Dreaming of beaches, lined with docks.

The great cityscape which we left behind
Has morphed into fields and free minds.
Go for it, tie up that bandana,
Cause guess what, we’re goin’ to Savannah.
Odd to think that last night I wandered our Bronx.
I’ve found the beaches, I’ve found the docks.

Off-Season FUNditioning!

January 26, 2009

Dearest Flying Jesuits,

We know how much you have missed us over the past couple months, but worry no more. Frisbo time is back and the hour to rejuvenate our frozen relationships has arrived!

Starting this week, we will be having practice three (3) times a week, on Monday, Thursday, and Sunday nights. Mondays and Thursdays will be dedicated to restoring forgotten frisbee skills and strategy. And on Sundays we will most likely be doing some cross-training by playing a lil’ b-ball, or taking a dip in the nice, clean pool.

So get back in an ultimate mood, because Spring, the season of love, is almost here. We will be spending a lot more time together, and our never-ending network of passion will grow infinitely stronger. Along with our developing beach bods.

PADA Mosh

November 4, 2008

Heyo, this weekend is possibly the funnest tournament of the year, with the obvious exception of High Tide in Savannah. It’s PADA Mosh in Philadelphia! It’s a coed tourney with 30 mixed club teams on some polo fields, ideal for laying out and getting dirty. Plus the Fordham Alumni team will be there, probably drunk, so that will add all sorts of entertainment. Hope you’re excited.

Check out info from UPA.org here.
Also, on PADA’s site.
And here’s the schedule/brackets.
